Gushue rink wins Baden Masters in extra end over Thomas Ulsrud team

Brad Gushue made a hit and stick in the extra end for a 4-3 win over Norway’s Thomas Ulsrud rink in this morning’s final at the Baden Masters in Switzerland. It’s Gushue’s third championship win in this season-opening World Curling Tour event. PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey are on this year’s team, which went undefeated with a 7-0 win-loss record.

The Gushue rink beat the two-time defending champion Sven Michel rink from Switzerland 8-1 to advance to the final, while Ulsrud scored a triple in the last end to come from behind and beat the Swiss Pascal Hess foursome from Switzerland 6-4 in the other semi-final.

The winning Gushue team takes home 11,000 Swiss Francs (about $12,480 Canadian dollars), while the runner-up Ulsrud foursome receives 7000 Swiss Francs (around $7940 Cdn.)
