PEI’s Suzanne Birt rink are in the semi-finals at 1:30 pm Atlantic, at the Royal LePage OVCA Women’s Fall Classic World Curling Tour cashspiel in Kemptville Ontario. In quarter-final action this morning, they scored a triple in the sixth end, and stole a single in the seventh in a 7-2 win over the Brit O’Neil foursome from Ottawa to advance to the semi, where they’ll face Montreal’s Eve Belisle team, who beat Julie Hastings of Thornhill Ont. 7-5 this morning.
The other semi-final matchup sees Darcy Robertson of Winnipeg take on Nina Spatola of Madison Wisconsin. Robertson beat Heather Smith-Dacey of Halifax 6-2 this morning, while Spatola beat Anna Hasselborg of Sweden 8-3. The final goes at 4:30 AT.
The event champion will go home with $5000, with $2600 going to the runner-up. Third and fourth place will receive $1700 each, with the losers of the quarters, Smith-Dacey and Hasselborg getting $1000 per team.
