Doering rink, with Chris Gallant, playing in 1 pm semis at JSI OVCA Jr. Superspiel

The Kyle Doering rink from Manitoba, which includes Stratford PEI native Chris Gallant, who is currently attending school in Winnipeg, have advanced to the 1 pm AT semi-finals against reigning Canadian Junior Champion and World Bronze Medallist Matt Dunstone of Manitoba, at the JSI OVCA Jr. Superspiel in Ottawa.
This morning, the Doering team beat  the defending champion Scot Babin rink from Nova Scotia by a 5-1 score to advance to the semi. The other men’s semi sees Colton Daley from the Ottawa area take on New Brunswick’s Rene Comeau.

In the women’s division, Cornwall’s Veronica Smith team lost 3-1 to the American Cory Christensen foursome last night, and did not advance to this morning’s quarter-final round. The semis see Shannon Birchard of Manitoba play Erin MacAulay from Ontario, and Jessica Daigle from NB take on Kendall Haymes of ON.

The finals go at 5 pm AST at the Granite of West Ottawa.
