Three Island Junior teams off to 20th annual Oak Island cashspiel this weekend

Oak Island, long rumoured to be the home of pirate’s treasure, forms the backdrop for this weekend’s 20th edition of the long-running Junior cashspiel, which actually takes place at the curling club in nearby Chester NS, but is sponsored by the Atlantica Hotel and Marina,  Oak Island. Three rinks from Prince Edward Island, skipped by Amanda MacLean, out of the Cornwall Curling Club, along with her brother, Matthew MacLean, and Kyle Holland, who both out of the Charlottetown Curling Complex. are taking part in the 8 women’s and 12 men’s team round robin event.

The winning junior men’s team’s “treasure chest” this year will contain $900, plus a $100 gift certificate, while the winning junior women’s rink’s “plunder” will be $700 plus a $100 gift certificate.

First draw goes at 8 am Saturday, with the championship round taking place on Monday, with the finals set for 3 pm.
