With skip unable to play, P.E.I. women relying on spare pool at The Dominion (Journal)

THUNDER BAY, ONT. – Team P.E.I.’s women have resigned themselves that they will likely be without their skip for the entirety of The Dominion national curling club championships here this week.

Third stone Kim Ellsworth has been filling in at skip for an ailing Sharon Horne since the event got underway on Monday. Wendy Fraser has moved to third stone and lead Alison Griffin has been taking Fraser’s place at second stone.

The rink from the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton has been utilizing the host club’s spare pool all week. The curler who spared for them in their first four games is unavailable Thursday, so they will be picking up another spare.

“We’re all adjusting well,” Ellsworth reported following their fourth game of the championship on Wednesday evening. There is a bigger adjustment to the ice than to their new positions on the team, she admitted.
