Cornwall hosting Mixed Doubles mini-cashspiel on Jan. 4

To provide practice and familiarization with the sport in advance of Curl PEI’s open-entry Mixed Doubles championship, Feb. 13-17 in O’Leary (with entries closing Jan. 16), the Cornwall Curling Club is holding a Mixed Doubles mini-cashspiel on Saturday January 4th. Entry fee is $40 per two-person team. Teams will play three six-end games each, with a payout of $20 per team for each win. Entry is limited to 16 teams, and curlers from all PEI clubs are invited to participate.

The event is open to mixed teams (one female, one male) only. Stick curlers are not permitted, as they are not eligible for the provincial, national and world championships. There are no age restrictions on either this cashspiel or the provincials and nationals, so Junior curlers are allowed to participate.

Note that games will be six ends each, in order to give curlers the chance to play three games. The provincial championships will be eight end games.

First draw will be at 9 am. Lunch will be provided. Teams can enter by emailing [email protected].
