The Dominion Curling Club Ch’ship starts Thursday at the Silver Fox

The Dominion

The 2014 provincial The Dominion Curling Club Championship, featuring the men’s and women’s club champions from PEI curling clubs, will be held at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside from March 27-30. Last year’s winners were the Sharon Horne team from the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton, and, for the second consecutive year, the Allan Inman team from the Crapaud Community Curling Club. Inman is back this year, looking to make it three in a row. Two members of the Horne rink, Wendy Fraser and Alison Griffin, are on this year’s Western team. The winning teams will advance to the national The Dominion Curling Club Championship, November 24-29 at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax. Six of PEI’s seven dedicated curling facilities have entered teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

All profits from The Dominion Curling Club Championship are re-directed to Spinal Cord Injury and developmental curling initiatives in communities across the country. For more information about the Championship, including eligibility rules, visit thedominioncurls.ca.

Teams will play a round robin format, with the second and third place men’s and women’s teams advancing to their respective semi-finals, Sunday March 30 at 9 am or 2 pm, depending on tiebreakers, and the semi winners will go to the event finals against the first place teams. The finals will go Sunday at 2 or 7 pm, depending on tiebreakers.  Opening draw is Thursday March 27 at 7 pm, with Friday play at 2 and 7 pm. Round robin action wraps up with the 9 am and 2 pm draws on Saturday, with tiebreakers, if required going Saturday at 7, and, if necessary Sunday at 9 am.

Live results from the provincial The Dominion will be available at PEICurling.com/thedominion
