The Peter Gallant rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex, which includes third John Likely, second Mark O’Rourke, and lead Mark Butler, edged the Paul Dexter foursome from the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax by a 7-6 score in this afternoon’s final of the Pepsi Atlantic Curling Tour Cashspiel at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside. Other members of the runner-up rink are Mark Robar, Summerside native Neil Gallant, and Kirk MacDiarmid.

Gallant beat defending event champ Blair Jay from the host club 6-2 in semi-final play, with a stolen triple giving him a commanding 6-1 lead after 5 ends. Dexter edged Summerside native, former World Junior champ, and 7-time PEI women’s champ Suzanne Birt 6-5 to advance to the championship game.
Gallant and Dexter both were undefeated going into the final, qualifying out of the A event, with Gallant beating clubmate Tyler Harris and Dexter defeating Charlottetown’s Kathy O’Rourke in the A qualifiers. Birt beat Harris, and Jay beat O’Rourke in the B flight, with
Charlottetown’s Kim Dolan rink won the consolation round final, by a 6-3 score over Hugh Avery and his Halifax Curling Club team.
The winning Gallant rink receives $1800, with $1200 going to the runner-up Dexter team. Jay and Birt each get $900, with $600 going to consolation winner Dolan.
12 Teams, from the three Maritime provinces took part in the event.
