The second of the three qualifying spots for Tuesday’s championship round at the Curl PEI Tankard Provincial Men’s Curling Championship will be determined on Sunday at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. Unseeded Jamie Newson upset top seeded Adam Casey with a 6-4 win in the A qualifier on Saturday morning. Casey, whose team curls out of both the Charlottetown Curling Complex and the Silver Fox in Summerside, now faces Charlottetown’s Tyler MacKenzie rink in the B semi-final game at 11 am Sunday, with the winner taking on Newson in the B qualifier game at 3:30 pm. Down in the “must win” C event, Robert Campbell is playing Charlottetown clubmate Tyler Harris at 11 am Sunday. The “C” qualifier goes Monday at 3:30 pm.
