PEI scores extra-end win over New Brunswick at Scotties (Guardian)

P.E.I. survived a bit of a scare Sunday night at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

After roaring out to a 6-1 lead after just three ends of play, Island skip Suzanne Birt was forced to hit for the winning score in an extra end, edging New Brunswick 9-8.

P.E.I. survived a bit of a scare Sunday

The win lifts P.E.I. back over .500, at 2-1 after two days.

In Sunday morning’s Draw 3, Birt and Co. fell 9-4 to Team Canada’s Jennifer Jones, who evened her record at 1-1.

Monday, Team Birt plays only once — against Alberta’s Chelsea Carey at 9:30 p.m., Atlantic Time.
