Team PEI rinks finish with 2-1 win-loss records at Maritime Pre-Canada Games event in Moncton #IsleBeReady

PEI’s representatives at the 2019 Canada Games, skipped by Lauren Ferguson and Mitchell Schut from the Cornwall Curling Club, along with New Brunswick’s Erica Cluff team from the Woodstock Golf and Country Club, finished play with 2-1 win-loss records at the Pre-Canada Winter Games event which took place Saturday and Sunday at Curl Moncton, featuring the junior men’s and women’s Canada Games teams from the three Maritime provinces. The other three teams in the event finished at 1-2.

Both PEI teams lost their only game to Cluff (each team plays one team of the opposite sex, and Schut happened to play Cluff, losing 7-6 in an extra end). Schut beat the Ethan Young team from Halifax 8-3 and scored a deuce in the final end to get by New Brunswick’s Emmanual Porter team 6-5:

Ferguson doubled New Brunswick’s Cally Moore 6-3 in her opener, but struggled with the ice on Saturday morning, losing 9-2 to Cluff, but went on to score a triple in the final end of her afternoon game to edge the Ethan Young junior men’s team from Halifax 7-6.
