Team PEI picks up 2 wins on Wed. to finish Canadian Mixed round robin at 2-4

The Jamie Newson team from the Silver Fox Curling Club in Summerside are PEI’s representatives in the 2020 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, Nov. 3-9, 2019, at Foyer des loisirs et de la culture in Saguenay, Que, and finished round robin play on Wednesday with a 2-4 win-loss record,
but would have needed a 3-3 record to be in championship pool contention, going instead to the seeding pool to determine positions for next year. In Wednesday action, they beat the Corey Chambers rink (3-3) from Miami Manitoba by an 8-2 score and then fought back from a 4-0 deficit after 2 ends to beat Northern Ontario’s Sandy MacEwan foursome (1-5) by a 7-5 score. PEI carries their record into the seeding pool, where they play Nunavut (0-6) at 10:30 Thursday morning, and Team Nova Scotia (2-4), with Peter Burgess playing fourth and Colleen Jones at third at 8 pm Thursday. On Friday, PEI takes on Alberta (3-3) at 10:30 (all times Atlantic)
