PEI’s Team Birt is in the final at The Curling Store Cashspiel at the Lakeshore Curling Club in Lower Sackville NS, after beating the Jill Brothers rink from Halifax 5-3 in this morning’s semi-final. They’ll be taking on the Christine Black team from Halifax, who downed the Isabelle Ladouceur foursome from Kitchener Ont. 7-2 in their semi. The final was originally scheduled for 4:30 pm, but has now been moved up to 1 pm.

They finished qualifying round play with a 2-1 win-loss record, and edged the Marlee Powers rink from Halifax 4-3 in an extra end in Saturday evening quarter-final action to set up this morning’s 8:30 semi-final match against the Jill Brothers rink from Halifax, which includes Islander Erin Carmody at third stone. The other semi sees Isabelle Ladouceur from Kitchener ON face Haligonian Christina Black. The championship game goes at 1pm.
Purse breakdown: 1st-$2100, 2nd-$1050, 3rd and 4th: $550
The other PEI team in the event, skipped by Shelly Bradley, finished with a 1-2 win-loss record, as did Taylour Stevens and her Halifax Junior team, which includes PEI’s Lauren Ferguson at 3rd.
