A 9-3 Saturday afternoon win put Cornwall’s Mitchell Schut team, with a 2-2 win-loss record, into the 9:15 am semi-finals in the Under 18 Harvest Spiel at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax. The PEI rink won that game 9-1 in six ends against Ryan Smith of Halifax, and are now looking for a repeat win in the Boy’s event championship, which goes at 1:15 against the Nick Mosher squad from Halifax.
PEI native Lauren Ferguson, now curling out of the Halifax Curling Club, is skipping a team which includes Cate Fitzgerald from her U21 rink (which is skipped by Taylour Stevens), and advanced to the Sunday morning Girls’ semis, sporting a 3-1 win-loss record. Ferguson won that game 6-2 over Allyson MacNutt of Truro, and now squares off against Celia Evans of Oromocto NB in the 1:15 pm Girls’ final
Team Schut also includes Chase MacMillan, Cruz Pineau, and Liam Kelly, and are the defending champions in the Boys’ event, going undefeated last year.
