The 14th annual Southwestern Ontario Women´s Charity Cashspiel takes place October 15 – 18 at four clubs in the London Ont. area, with proceeds going to the London Regional Cancer Program, and the event winner receiving an invitation to the Canada Cup in Medicine Hat, December 1-5, 2010. PEI’s Kathy O’Rourke rink, which includes Erin Carmody, Geri-Lynn Ramsay, and Tricia Affleck, is among the 24 teams entered. Other entrants include Cathy Auld of Missisauga, who won the event last year, last year’s runner up and three-time event winner Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater Ont., and Ottawa’s Rachel Homan, who won the spiel in 2007 and 2008. Other Atlantic Canada teams include Heather Strong and Shelley Nichols of St. John’s, Melissa Adams of Fredericton, and Mary-Anne Arsenault of Halifax. Suzanne (Gaudet) Birt of Charlottetown won the event in 2003, but is not entered this year. First draw is Friday morning at 9:30 ET, with the final on Monday Oct. 18 at 1 pm.
