Atlantic Curling tour championship up for grabs in Moncton

Two draws scheduled for tonight at Moncton’s Curling Beausejour

More than $10,000 in prize money is up for grabs and that’s caught the attention of 16 of the top men’s curling teams in the Maritimes.

Action begins tonight and continues until Monday afternoon in the Atlantic Curling Tour championship bonspiel, scheduled for Curling Beasejour in Moncton.

The event will feature four divisions of four teams each.

After round-robin play within each division, the top three teams in each section will advance to a single knockout playoff round.

Quarter-finals are slated for Monday at 8 a.m., followed by semifinals at 11 a.m. and the championship game goes at 2 p.m. All games will be eight ends.

At 6 p.m. tonight, Robert Campbell of Prince Edward Island faces Rick Perron of the Beaver Curling Club in Moncton, Kevin Champion of P.E.I. meets Shawn Adams of Nova Scotia, Mark Kehoe of Nova Scotia clashes with Glen MacLeod, also of Nova Scotia, and Curling Beausejour’s Marcel Robichaud squares off against Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc of Nova Scotia.

At 9 p.m., Chad Stevens meets Ken Myers in an all-Nova Scotia battle, Eddie MacKenzie of P.E.I., tangles with Rod MacDonald, also of the Island, Jamie Murphy of Nova Scotia faces Jamie Christianson of Nova Scotia and Brent MacDougall of Nova Scotia meets Terry Odishaw of Curling Beausejour.
