PEICA to hold Junior Development/Talent ID camp

On Sunday Dec. 11 at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside the PEI Curling Association will be holding a Junior Learn to Curl/Skills Development and Talent ID Camp for all Island junior boys and girls teams and individuals from novice to intermediate level.

The camp will focus on novice to intermediate level junior teams and individuals, primarily from ages 10-15, who have at least one year’s experience. The main focus is on on learning, skills development, fun, and on allowing an opportunity for talent identification. The camp runs from 8:30 am to 5 pm, and includes both on-ice and classroom sessions.

  • ·        On-Ice topics will include
    • Technical Skills (Stance, Balance, Timing, Line of Delivery)
    • Technical Skills (Grip, Turns, Release, Rotation)
    • Drills for skill development
    • Brushing Drills & Skills, Communication
    • Pre-shot routines,
    • Shot selection
  • ·        Off-Ice topics will include:
    • Technical Review,
    • Safety, Rules & Etiquette
    • Team Dynamics, Roles & Responsibilities, Goal Setting,
    • Basic Strategy
    • Importance of Warm Up & Cool Down

The cost is $100 per team including coach,  or $25 per individual – Entry is limited to 48,  on a first come first paid basis.  Morning and afternoon nutrition breaks will be provided.

Please make cheques payable to the PEI Curling Association. Registration must be received by Mon. 5 Dec, 2011.
