Sport PEI Amateur Sport Awards nominations due January 11 (Sport PEI)

Sport PEI is once again calling upon the public and Island sport groups for nominations for the 2012 Amateur Sport Awards, which will be presented at the annual banquet in early 2013.

Islanders have enjoyed some outstanding successes in the past twelve months, and Sport PEI is looking for nominations in the both the senior male and female athlete of the year categories, as well as the junior athlete awards, for those who are aged 18 or younger as of January 1 2013. In addition nominations are called for in the categories of team, coach, intercollegiate athlete (male and female), administrator, official and masters athlete (for those aged 35 and over).
Hockey’s Brandon Gormley was the big winner at the last awards banquet, taking home the Bell Aliant Senior Male Athlete award, in addition to the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Outstanding Island Athlete, and the Bill Halpenny Award for performance at the international level.
