Timing instruction on new “Thinking Time” method being offered at Cornwall on Thurs. Timers still needed for Pepsi Jrs.

time_me1Timing instruction will take place Thursday, Dec 27 from 6pm – 7pm at the Cornwall Curling Club for all those who have volunteered to time for the Pepsi Juniors (Jan. 2-6). Anyone planning to time at any Curl PEI championship this season is also welcome to attend. As well, more timers are needed for the Pepsi Juniors.

Note that this event will be the first one to use the new “Thinking Time” method of timing, whereby the clock runs while teams are making decisions, not when the rocks are in motion, so those with previous timing experience are asked to attend as well.

Here is the  information from the latest rule book regarding this new method of timing:

Under these revised rules, a 10 end game allows 40 minutes of thinking time. There are 2 timeouts of 90 seconds each which includes coach travel time. An extra end is 5 minutes with 1 timeout of 90 seconds..
