Game tied after 5 ends, but Team PEI loses 11-8 to Team NL

Team NL (Brad Gushue with PEI’s Brett Gallant) beat Team Cochrane (Cornwall PEI) 11-8 in 9 ends this morning at the Brier in Kingston.

Gushue moves to 5-1 and into the championship round, while PEI, who wrap up the round robin against undefeated Alberta at 3 this afternoon, drops to 2-4.

End 1: NL scores 2 with hammer
End 2: Nose hit single for Team PEI, to trail 2-1
End 3: NL draws for three to lead 5-1
End 4: PEI draws for a deuce to trail NL 5-3
End 5: Gushue misses PEI rock with his shot stone. PEI steals 2 to tie game 5-all at the break.
End 6: Gushue makes pressure draw for one, facing 4 PEI counters to lead 6-5
End 7: PEI lies 2 after Gushue’s last shot. Cochrane throws his stone away. 7-6 PEI after 7
End 8: Gushue hits for 5. PEI goes to shake hands and then decides to keep playing.”
End 9: Gushue picks out Cochrane’s shot stone. PEI draws for 1 and shakes hands. NL wins 11-8.
