Pool play concluded Saturday evening at the Bogside Cup, in Montague, Prince Edward Island.
When the games concluded and the dust settled, Pool A saw Halifax based Christina Black and her 21st world ranked team qualify for the playoffs. Also from Halifax qualifying out of pool A is Marie Christianson with her team that includes PEI native, Erin Carmody. Filling out the bracket in Pool A is local U18 team, Sophie Blades who upset Black in the evening draw 9-3.
In Pool B, Laurie St. Georges and her Quebec based team consisting of Jamie Sinclair, Emily Riley and Kelly Middaugh ran the table going 4-0. Halifax based Tanya Hilliard and her team had a successful weekend going 3-1 to finish 2nd in Pool A. Jessica Daigle who played 3 wide Saturday won both of their games to finish 3-1 and qualify. Jane DiCarlo out of the Crapaud Curling Club rounded out the playoff teams in group B going 2-2 and qualified based on their draw to the button tiebreaker.
Playoffs kick off at 9:00 today with Laurie St. Georges taking on DiCarlo, the winner of that draw will face the winner of Sophie Blades and Chrisianson. On the other side of the bracket Tanya Hilliard takes on Quillian, while it’s an all Halifax affair as Jessica Daigle takes on Black in the other quarterfinal match up. Semi finals go at 12:00 with the final going at 3:00. Admission is free at the Montague Curling Club so come on down to catch the action.
