We’re back!

Our apologies for yesterday’s server outage, our first since we began curling coverage with the February 2000 Tankard. Due to increased traffic from the PEI Scotties, our web hosting provider in Montreal suspended our shared hosting account yesterday morning during a Scotties draw, without any warning.  In order to ensure that we could handle the load, we immediately ordered a dedicated server, which required hardware and software provisioning, site migration, and DNS propagation throughout the Internet, which takes a number of hours. We are pleased to be able to get everything back in service, missing only one Scotties draw, and part of another, and were able to keep people informed via our Twitter and Facebook sites during the outage. We hope our new web server will keep PEICurling.com operating at optimum speed for many years to come!

By the way, our new dedicated server comes at a considerable expense, compared with the shared system we were using before. Feel free to get in touch with us if you are interested in sponsoring our web hosting. As was made evident yesterday, during the curling season we are one of PEI’s busiest websites, and an ad on our sites could provide great exposure for your company.
