2022 PEI 55+ Winter Games Cancelled

Planning for the 2022 Cornwall Winter Games began in the fall of 2021. The host committee and 55+ Games Society board were both optimistic that this event would be the return of 55+ Games events in PEI. Unfortunately, due to the presence of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, cases in the province have sky rocketed. Due to this surge in cases, the committee and board were faced with once again making the call to cancel the 55+ Games. With this cancellation, the 55+ Games Society along with the host communities have had to cancel a total of 4 Games, one in 2020, two in 2021, and now one in 2022.

The 55+ Games Society board sincerely thanks the host communities, employees, and volunteers who have worked with us to try and put on these events safely. With the uncertainty around COVID-19 and the fact that these events deal with a vulnerable population, it has not been possible to offer our normal programming.

The board will continue to work to keep the PEI 55+ Games Society present in the province and known amongst the 55+ population. Early planning is in the works to have the 2022 Summer Games go in Kensington in September. We are hopeful the 55+ Games will make a return in the near future. Until then, be sure to follow all Public Health guidelines and stay safe!
