PEI Scotties gets underway Thursday

The 2023 PEI Scotties Tournament of Hearts Women’s Curling Championship will take place at the Crapaud Community Curling Club from January 26-29, with four teams competing.  The PEI Men’s Tankard will take place concurrently at the same venue.

There is no admission charge to watch the event however 50/50 draws will be held with the proceeds going towards the capital fundraiser to Paint the Building (Crapaud Community Curling Club).

Defending champions the Suzanne Birt rink, curling out of Cornwall Curling Club, are back looking to defend their title.  Team Birt will be competing against clubmates the Rachel MacLean rink, the Melissa Morrow foursome from the Summerside Curling Club, and the Darlene London team from the Montague Curling Club.

Teams will be playing a modified triple knockout with Birt being seeded 1st based on their Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) points.  Draws go at 9 am and 7 pm on the 26th & 27th; 2 pm and 7 pm on the 28th; and the Championship Round (not needed if a team wins all three draw sections) goes Sunday the 29th at 9 am and, if needed, 2 pm.

The winning team will advance to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts February 17-26 at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, BC.
